The 2024 List of the Best Rewards Credit Cards for Singapore

MoneyMate
Updated:

Rewards credit cards are all about the points. Collect enough of them, and you can enjoy a wide range of exclusive perks and privileges.

How Do Rewards Credit Cards Work?

They all work the same way: you earn points by charging eligible transactions to your card. You can then use these points however you choose, like converting them into air miles, redeeming vouchers and rebates, or claiming exclusive products. That makes them more flexible than cashback or miles-focused cards that only offer one specific reward.

Some cards offer more points on certain spending categories or for selected partner brands. Usually, there’s no minimum spending needed to rack up points, so you’ll earn rewards as long as your transaction is eligible. Keep in mind that bonus points (where you can earn more than 1x point) usually have a monthly or yearly cap.

What Can You Exchange Reward Points For?

Each bank has its own rewards catalogue. Popular rewards include:

  • Vouchers (e.g. shopping, F&B, grocery, ride-hailing apps, movie tickets)
  • Rebates and cash credits
  • Airline miles

If a big part of your spending is over the internet, the Citi Rewards Credit Card may be for you. This lets you stretch each dollar you spend on shopping, groceries, food deliveries, and ride hailing services. You will rack up those sweet rewards points in no time.

This card offers 10x rewards points (10 points per dollar spent) on online shopping, Grab/Gojek rides, food and grocery delivery, and any store that sells shoes, bags, and clothes as its main business activity.

If you’re trying to rack up miles, this works out to be 4 miles per dollar.

The Citi Rewards catalogue offers things you would actually want to spend your hard-earned points on, like Apple gadgets or Amazon. Best of all, there is no minimum spend required to start earning rewards!

Limitations: There’s a monthly expenditure cap of $1,000 on the 10X points. Beyond this amount, you’ll only earn the base rate of 1 point per dollar.

And heads up: the bonus 10X rewards also do not cover travel purchases online and non-fashion purchases offline, so you may want to use a different card for those.

With international borders opening up, this card’s enhanced travel and overseas spending perks are a big plus for those who plan to shop abroad (or shop online in foreign currencies).

The Standard Chartered Rewards+ Card offers you 10x points (10 points per dollar) for overseas shopping, dining, and travel. That is about 2.9 miles per $1. You can also snag complimentary travel insurance coverage up to S$500,000 when you charge your full travel fare to the card.

Even if you’re not travelling just yet, the Standard Chartered Rewards+ Card gives you 5x points when you dine out in Singapore. Besides restaurants, the bonus rewards rate also includes fast food outlets and caterers.

In all, the Standard Chartered Rewards+ Credit Card is a fuss-free option if you like food and travel. There’s no minimum spend needed to enjoy your benefits, and you’ll start earning points from the first dollar spent.

Limitations: Retail transactions from local hotel restaurants and supermarkets don’t qualify for the bonus rewards points.

Another downside: you can earn a maximum of 20,000 bonus points over 12 months. After that, you will only earn 1 point per dollar.

The HSBC Revolution Credit Card is a pretty legit card with its generous selection of qualifying transactions. Enjoy up to 10X rewards points (or 4 miles per $1) on all online spending and contactless payments. That covers most, if not all the financial transactions we usually make in a day. Whether you are ordering dessert for delivery or shopping online, you can pay online or via contactless payment and watch the points roll in.

For travellers: Unlike many other cards, the HSBC Revolution Credit Card gives you 10x points when you make travel bookings online too! This makes the card a great alternative to traditional air miles cards.

Another benefit is that there’s no annual fee. Even if you don’t use the card much, you can keep it without having to worry about the fees.

Limitations: The low bonus points cap. You can only earn up to 10,000 bonus points per month (equivalent to S$1,000 spent).

Fees and eligibility

  • Age: At least 21 years

Do you find yourself spending on different things at different times of the year? Maybe during the first half of the year, you spend more on gadgets and in the latter half, you splurge on presents or holidays. If you’re a seasonal spender, this card is an ideal fit.

The UOB Lady’s Card gives ladies up to 10x points (10 points per S$5) in one of the seven categories: Beauty & Wellness, Entertainment, Fashion, Transport, Travel, Dining, and Family. Every quarter, you can change your selected category online.

This can come in handy if you expect high one-off spending in a particular category. For instance, if you’re having a baby soon, you can select the Family category while you shop for your newborn’s needs and collect rewards points on baby clothes, milk, strollers, and more.

The UOB Lady’s Card lets you maximise your points even if your shopping habits shift throughout the year. Of course, you can always stick with a category across quarters.

Limitations: Unfortunately, the card is for women only. Their bonus point cap of 1,800 points per month (equal to S$1,000 spend) is not much either, so you’ll have to reign in that inner shopaholic.

Fees and eligibility

  • Age: At least 21 years (females only)

The OCBC Titanium Rewards Card is a highly rewarding option for both online and offline shoppers. In particular, if you often shop for apparel, bags, shoes, accessories, or electronics, this card is for you.

This card is also popular with those who spend a lot on popular e-commerce sites such as Shopee, Lazada, Amazon, Ezbuy, Qoo10, and Taobao.

The OCBC Titanium Rewards Card offers 10x points (50 points per $5 or 4 miles per S$1) for eligible purchases, whether for in-store or online transactions. Double dip on your electronics shopping when you buy from BEST Denki: you’ll get an additional 2% rebate. All other retail transactions earn you 1 point per S$5.

Limitations: You can earn a max of 120,000 bonus points per year, after which the base earn rate of 1 point per S$5 will apply instead. Unfortunately, OCBC rewards are quite limited. You mainly choose between cash, miles, and Best Denki vouchers.

American Express CapitaCard

PROMO: Enjoy 3-hour complimentary parking per mall, per day across participating CapitaLand Malls

American Express CapitaCard

This niche card is worth considering if you do almost all your shopping at CapitaLand Malls. Even then though, it takes a bit of effort to hunt down the participating shops to maximise your earned points.

PROMO: Enjoy 3-hour complimentary parking per mall, per day across participating CapitaLand Malls

Go mall-hopping across CapitaLand Malls with this AMEX credit card. Earn 4-6x bonus points per dollar simply for shopping at CapitaLand Malls and an extra 10x points at selected partner merchants.

Keep a lookout for participating outlets where you can earn the highest bonus rates. Redeem them for CapitaVouchers to offset your future shopping cost at (you guessed it) CapitaLand malls.

Your bonus points are capped at S$1,200 per month: not too shabby, frankly.

Limitation: You can only redeem eCapitaVouchers with your points. On the bright side, you can buy most things at the mall, from groceries, fashion, and electronics to dinner and movies.

Fees and eligibility

  • Age: At least 21 years old
  • Annual income: S$30,000 (Singaporean/PR), S$60,000 (Foreigners)

PROMO: Enjoy S$150 cashback with promo code 150CASH

DBS Women’s World Card

The DBS Woman’s Card rewards avid online shoppers at one of the best points-to-spending ratios for an entry-level card. But you have to spend above the bonus points cap to qualify for an automatic fee waiver, making this card not as low-maintenance as we’d like.

PROMO: Enjoy S$150 cashback with promo code 150CASH

The DBS Woman’s Card is one of the best options for online spending, and it’s not just for ladies. If a lot of your transactions are online, the DBS Woman’s Card is a decent rewards card to have on hand as it offers 5X points (or 10 miles) for every $5 you spend on online or overseas purchases.

Both the cards’ definitions of online spending are broad and include most of your spending, from grocery deliveries to ride-hailing payments.

Limitations:

  • DBS Woman’s Card: 5X DBS points are only applicable for the first S$1,000 in online spend per month.
